FML is a zero waste rated facility using every part of the log and all of the by-products of the manufacturing process:
- Sawdust is used as natural fuel for the dry kilns.
- Bark is ground and sold as landscape mulch.
- Wood chips are used as raw material in paper production.
- Lumber cut-offs are bundled and sold as firewood.
Multiple Land Use Ethic
We believe in a multiple land use ethic, where one can enjoy the many benefits of proper forest management along with an economic benefit as a resource for the wood-using industries. We believe that good stewardship during forestry activities by loggers, landowners and land managers protects our valuable forestland and offers the greatest potential for reaching forest health goals.
FML supports the multiple-use management of woodlands with proper forest management. Wood is our only renewable resource, and if properly harvested, forests will be available to everyone forever.
