Our two primary facility locations
Union City
Located in East Central Indiana
approximately 25 miles north of Richmond.
FML headquarters, including the logyard, sawmill, grading and drying areas, as well as the executive, sales and accounting offices are located in Union City.
- Main plant houses sawmill, planer, grading, sorting and stacking operations.
- Warehouse provides enclosed storage for 4 million board feet of KD lumber.
- Uncovered and covered areas allow for approximately 2.9 million board feet of air drying and staging for kiln charges.
- Twenty kilns with computerized monitoring system provide a capacity for drying 1.32 million board feet of lumber.
- Logyard has capacity for 3 million board feet (logs).
- FML produces 86,000 board feet of lumber per day with annual production of 19.5 million board feet.
- Sawmill is equipped with a state-of-the-art headsaw, two resaws, optimizer edger and trimmer.
- Indoor truck loading available.
- Container loading is done indoors.
- Retail lumber outlet store is attached to main plant.
Salem Plant
Located approximately 90 miles south of Indianapolis
between Scottsburg and Salem, Indiana.
FML Lumber Processing and Services plant.
- Custom drying services available.
- Additional logyard storage facility.
- Receives green lumber and readies it for air drying (allowing FML the ability to grade purchased lumber and stack the lumber in one step).
- Stores lumber in T-sheds to provide covered air drying for lumber waiting to go into the dry kilns.
- Oversees the operation of a Hurst boiler (600 hp) that supplies processed heat and steam to the ten dry kilns and new SII steamer.
- Has the capacity to dry 600,000 board feet at any one time.
- Can process over 20,000 board feet per steamer charge.
- Provides steaming of walnut lumber for the Union City plant.
- Manages a grading process line, drop saw trimmer, straight line ripsaw, and a Newman Whitney S382 planer.
