Environmental Management Practices at FML

A summary of FML's commitment to the environment appears in the About FML section of this website. This section delves into more detail about how FML lives that commitment every day through effective production practices and participation in a number of programs designed to partner with distributors, manufacturers, and architects.

FML is a zero waste rated facility.

FML uses every part of the log and all of the by-products of the manufacturing process.

Sawdust

FML produces huge volumes of sawdust during lumber processing. FML captures this sawdust and utilizes it as natural fuel for the kilns that are used to dry lumber.

Mulch Loading

Bark is ground and sold as landscape mulch.

Wood Chips

Wood chips are used as raw material in paper production.

Debarking a Log

Lumber cut-offs are bundled and sold as firewood.

LEED Program

In addition to effective forest management practices, FML supports the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Construction projects within the FML LEED area quality for LEED points.
